I am trying to install os X.2 on a 1 GHz power mac g4. The cds i have for X.2 are not the cds that would have come with this computer. They are the ones that were offered to teachers for free when jaguar originally came out. The computer will not boot off the cd so i cant install the software.
The g4 i have is one of the ones that does not boot off os 9. Does anyone know if you need a specific copy of os X to install it on this computer?
Hi Scott. Is that the FireWire 800 model? I think that you might be out of luck. (But others may know better than I.) That model originally shipped with OS X 10.2.3. I think that's the issue here. It won't boot an earlier version of the system s/w. I know of one other user who has tried to boot the same machine with the original 10.2 CD. No success.
