I have always heard that it is risky to take the cover off of a monitor because of the high voltages stored in some of the components.

I have two monitors that need minor repair. One has a bad plug receptacle and the other has a bad power button. My question is: How long does it take for the power to dissipate? If I leave the monitors unplugged for several months are they safe?

Thanks,

Mark
