Try 1. fiddling with "Modem" or "Remote Access" control panel
2. turning off/on the modem
3. quit/reopen the fax software
4. reinstall the fax software
Good luck
Have you installed another application/extension/etc.?
Eric.

I have an iMac, OS 9.2.2. I use the British programme FaxElite to send and receive faxes. all of a sudden, when I try to send a fax I get a message: "modem isn't responding to Faxelite". followed by "another application is currently using the modem". I've checked all my cable connections and they are OK. I use a separate phone line for faxing. As far as I know there is no other application using the modem. Ideas welcome! Bob Harris
