I have had a similar problem with my iBook G4 with a '802.11g' Airport card. My wireless router is 802.11b (D-Link) and the other computers on the network (a Mac and a PC) have '802.11b' cards and they never lose the connection. The iBook G4, however, seems to lose the connection whenever it is idle for any period of time. Turning the Airport card off and then on again clears the problem quickly enough, but it's still a pain. I had always guessed it was an issue with the 'g' card running on a 'b' network. That's my experience, but I can't offer any solutions.

Hi,
I have been having a repeated problem with airport that I have been trying to solve. I have an original base station at work and one shared off a late model (airport express) eMac at home. Going back and forth occasionally my machine (iBook G4) will just refuse to connect to the old base station. A PowerBook (express) and older iBook (plain airport) never have this problem. It will only resolve with a reboot. Often the iBook will still connect when I get back home and to multiple other b and g networks (my apartment building has lots of networks). But, if I wait long enough it will start to lose them as well. The machine recognizes the access point but it self assigns its IP. Has anyones else run across a similar problem?
