I'm looking at the Energy Saver in 10.3.9 and not seeing anything that
would apply to low voltage situations. Are you saying that plugging the
computer into a UPS would create more options in the preference pane? And
talking via USB.... are you saying the computer's power cord *and* a USB
cord get plugged into the UPS? Obviously I'm not familiar with UPS and how
they work with power outages and voltage drops -- and the specs I've been
reading on sites like tigerdirect.ca and the former radioshack.ca haven't
been much help.

If there is a USB to UPS connection needed, I'm pretty sure I'm shit outta
luck with my particular iMac -- although I have a powered 4-port USB hub,
I'm unable to have two externals work at the same time, having tried with a
CD burner and external hard drive. I suspect it's because I'm still using
USB 1.1.

I'm restricted to mail order because of my location so thanks for any
response, even a link to a good thorough tutorial explaining any of the
above. I'd like to know what features I should be looking for, and which
ones would work with my iMac, before placing an order.
