Hello ! I used to have a network at home where I had internet routed on a PC to my mac ... yes, it was not the best solution but the simplest since I was not the only internet user in the house ! and I can't live without my Mac, for work and leisure !
Anyway, here is my problem to you all-know-it-all guys and girls ! I moved away from the house (working now in Taiwan, but thats another story !) sold my Mac (a trusty old and upgraded 8500) and backup as much as I could on a portable drive. Some of the stuff I could not back up so I copied some files onto the PC using MacSOHO as a last resort. Moving to Taiwan, I copied the files that were in the PC to CDs (there would not be any problem now if I had a CDWriter for my 8500 at the time .. I know ..) Now, when I read the CDs, the stuff that I compressed can be decompressed and used but some files and apps were just copied on the CD and my present Mac now (an indigo iBook) is not capable of recognizing the software. It pops up the alternate open window but that doesn't work with software ! Is there a way to bring back those files and apps to life or it's over ? Thank you very much for any info on this and have a great day !
