Yes. Then the screen turns black for a short time and when it turns on again the display looks like as though it is defective. > > > >I put into the CD drive a Win install CD but this made no difference. > > > > Did it boot from the cd or from the hdd? >From the HD - didn't know about DEL key. I know almost nothing about PC and Windows. With the Win 2000 install disk in the tray I held down the DEL key. It came to: Searching for Boot Record from Floppy .. Not Found Searching for Boot Record from CDROM .. OK I could hear the CD drive turning and clicking (probably searching for the Boot Record), but after some time it stopped. I randomly hit some keys but nothing happened. I also tried a Norton SystemWorks 2000 CD (it says it is for Win 95 or 98) using the DEL key at startup. I comes to a window that gives three options. It remains stuck there because there is no response from the key board. -- Mac-N-DOS is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and... / Buy books, CDs, videos, and more from Amazon.com \ / <http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/redirect-home/lowendmac> \ Support Low End Mac <http://lowendmac.com/lists/support.html> Mac-N-DOS list info: <http://lowendmac.com/lists/mac-n-dos.shtml> --> AOL users, remove "mailto:" Send list messages to: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To unsubscribe, email: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> For digest mode, email: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Subscription questions: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Archive: <http://www.mail-archive.com/mac-n-dos%40mail.maclaunch.com/> Using a Mac?
