Hi, just joined the list. I hope someone can help me out there. The school I work at is networked via XP. One of the XP computers in my room has the HP 1200 laserjet printer attached to it and the board tech guy has set the print options to share. 2 of the other printers in my room and several rooms near my room can print without any problems to this printer. When I go to the Printer/Faxes area of XP of the computer that has the printer I notice that the address assigned to it is something like : \\0258W0623486\P_110_1. Now I know that the P_110_1 refers to my room (110).
I recently brought in my B&W G3 which is running on OS X (10.2.6). Someone from one of the other lists told me that the above address is a SAMBA address. I want to know if it's possible to print to the laserjet printer via OS X. I heard that OS X does support Samba but for the life of me I can't seem to figure out how to get my B&W to connect to the HP printer via the above address. The only print option I get for networking really in OS X is IP Printing but that requires an IP address which I don't have any privy to. Does anyone know if it is possible to print to the HP printer via the address mentioned above (\\0258W06....\P_110_1) in OS X? Do I need special software in order to do this or does OS X have the necessary tools?
