I have a Wingman Extreme 3D Digital.

Figuring it out shouldn't be difficult. The IBM
joystick port pinout is all over the web. Reverse
engineer from there. Ie, use an ohmmeter to trace
which wires go to each axis and to which buttons.

If your's supports USB, all you need to know is which
four of the wires normally pass through the 15 pin
connector to Logitech's DB15F to USB adaptor that
comes with all their anlog gameport/digital USB
compatable sticks.

The IBM joystick port supports four potentiometers
and four buttons, 2 each per stick.

How they get more buttons is easy. The game (for
DOS) or DirectX in Windows looks for combinations
of buttons pressed and treats them as a single button.

You could see this in DirectX 4's test/calibration.
Instead of a showing a light for each button on
the controller, it only showed four no matter what
stick you'd selected. (unless you chose a 2 or 3
button one) Pressing buttons higher than 4 would
light up 2 or more indicators. With DirectX 5, MS
changed it to one indicator per stick button.

It will be total Fandemonium, Summer 2005!
