Hi Guys.
Just stick my head up and wave hello from darkest Coalville,
Leicestershire with my Pulsar. Currently back on an old Formac
ProMedia 40 (4MB) for video, a ProTV tuner card, E100 card and a
Xircom 4 port usb card.
Struggled for a couple of weeks with my Voodoo 5500 before digging
out the Formac - as could not get the four cards to play nicely in
the Pulsar. If all four were in place the ProTV software would lock
solid every time, if I took the usb card out it would work ok but I
missed my usb scrolling mouse too much.
I'm running 432MB (2*128MB from over the pond, plus numerous 32MB and
64MB DIMMs from old macs) and a Met@Box G4 400MHz/2MB cache.
Currently looking for options - perhaps a stripped down old PCI mac?
(I've got a spare 233MHz 604e cpu daughtercard, a couple of the 32MB
DIMMs and a 2GB SCSI drive to populate a "gutted" mac) or a second
Pulsar, (or even a low end G3 B/W tower if it was very cheap - a home
for my TV card and a cheap RAM/HDs....)
I could then place both the Formac cards in and attach both machines
to my dual input monitor for TV in my room, plus a possible file
store/print server alongside the Pulsar.
I could then get back to my finely tuned Voodoo 5500, usb card and
E100 setup in the Pulsar which hums along just fine.
What do you reckon?
Regards
Neil
p.s got my Pulsar from Mygate just before the iMacs exploded out into
the world.
