I have a set of 7.1 disks from 1992 (universal), installer is version 3.4.
Tonight, I wanted to install 7.1 on an LCIII I've just salvaged from the
skip, but I couldn't install it as I kept getting the message that the
machine needed a more recent OS than the one I was trying to install. Disk
Tools was booting OK but the install disk flatly refused to run. Checking
the custom install, I can see an install for the LC and LCII but not the
LCIII.

And yet, the LCIII is supposed to be compatible with 7.1 provided you have
Enabler 003.

So, does it mean that my floppy set is too old and that I'd need another set
released round the time the LCIII was?

Of course, 7.5 is free from Apple now but I'd prefer 7.1 as the current ram
installed is not that big.

Any help or pointer appreciated.

Thanks,

Francois Rossi
