Your card sounds like an SMC 8432 (EtherPower PCI). This is based on the Digital 21041 (Tulip) chip, and there is a driver at http://www.smc-europe.com/english/support/driver_manual/adapter/download/843 2/mac107.hqx . Last time I used one of these cards it worked fine in a Power Mac 5500 with OS 8.6. Hope this helps!
