hi!

Having acquired a 6100 for about 2, I bought a G3 card and am now having fun with the fastest System 7.1 machine in the world - probably!

Have found a great site here: http://www.kan.org/6100/index.html

He suggests that 6100s can go to 520Mb if you can find the right 72-pin SIMMs.

But although 7100s have 4 RAM slots, not 2 as in the 6100, http://www.lowendmac.com/ppc/7100.shtml suggests that you can't have bigger than 32Mb SIMMs in each slot.

72-pin SIMMs become a black art beyond 32Mb. Chris Lawson has done a lot of work on them with the results at http://macfaq.org/hardware/memory.shtml#Q2.4.6

I haven't yet had chance to research how that applies to 7100s, but a bit of judicious googling should help.

hth,

Stuart
