Hi all

I've done a silly thing. Picked up a copy of Aladdin's Spring Cleaning
recently, thinking to clear out some of the accumulated debris of demo
software and old programs I'd run on my 7300/200. Selected the utility which
is meant to locate 'orphan' files that don't appear to be associated with
any main program. Took a cursory glance at what it came up with and pressed
Delete.

Lo and behold, when I booted up yesterday it was much quicker to load :) ...
until I started trying to run programs, and a succession of messages told me
this or that wouldn't run because a certain file could not be found (eg
Dreamweaver was missing WinSock Lib, Internet Explorer and mail/internet
programs wouldn't work because Open Transport had done a bunk etc etc) :(

What can anyone suggest which may help recover the lost files, or preferably
restore the system to what it was before I mucked it about? I have borrowed
Disk Warrior from work, which may do the trick but looks extreme in what it
can do. Are there any free utilities that are downloadable? I seem to
remember one called Retrospect Express or something?

I'd really rather not have to reinstall system software and all that
shenanigans if I can avoid it ...

Your help and wisdom, as ever, would be appreciated

Russ, Worthing
