Hiya Bob Sadly I don't think she will be able to use the scanner on the USB bus, there are 2 power handling ratings for USB
High Power For example the Direct USB port on a G4 or iMac or Studio Display, this port can supply enough power to power an External Peripheral Like the Canoscan Series, webcams and can even power external hubs. Low Power Like the USB ports in a Apple Pro Keyboard, can only realistically be used for low power items like mice and for connectivity, unless the peripheral has its own power source. One way of getting around this is to purchase a Powered USB hub that is mac compatible, plug that into the PCI USB port and run the scanner from the Powered hub as it should supply enough power to light it up and drive the motor. Once the scanner can communicate with the Mac your sorted, and because its USB you dont have to worry about it not picking up on the daisychain. :o) Hope this helps Sean DZineGuru www.ghostydog.com (safari only) -- Mac UK is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and... 123Inkjets.com <http://lowendmac.com/ad/123inkjets.html> Support Low End Mac <http://lowendmac.com/lists/support.html> Mac UK list info: <http://lowendmac.com/lists/mac-uk.shtml> --> AOL users, remove "mailto:" Send list messages to: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To unsubscribe, email: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> For digest mode, email: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Subscription questions: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Archive: <http://www.mail-archive.com/mac-uk%40mail.maclaunch.com/> Using a Mac?
