Sorry Neil I should have given my system specs. It is; Beige G3 266MHz/128mb, OS9.2.2 and Toast 5.2.1.
I did try it with Disc Burner but got exactly the same problem you got. I wonder if Xpostfacto will help. I presume it works by presenting built-in USB information to OSX.xxx. It appears Disc Burner checks for systems with built-in USB i.e. B&W G3 and upwards. I may be wrong but that's my guess.
