FWIW I run an e-commerce site at work that uses a PERL/CGI based solution and it works impeccably on any computer I've ever tried it on :).

we decided last year that instead of learning A SP*IT* we'd go the PHP route rather than hacking perl. PHP is very easy to pick up and can be combined with straight html a lot easier than perl/

I don't have to do the coding so i don't care (it's a pre-fab package). It's not the greatest solution but I'm not the only person who has to use it. I'd rather have a slightly untidy solution that my boss could use if I was away than have a perfect coding solution that no-one could use apart from me. The emphasis was on speed not perfection, and now it's going there is no way I could get persuade anyone it needs rewriting to do something that would take a short ice age and they would see virtually no change. I am working for a company that only understands one 2 things - Land Rovers and money.

I refuse to go anywhere near ASP. Why pay when you can go open source?

Precisely. PHP is better and GNU so your not paying to be ripped off :).

www.php.net

Bringing this back to something on topic - is PHP available in the personal web-sharing on OS X Panther?
