I've got a CRT iMac (600Mhz, one of the last revision) running 10.2.6, an
NT 4 Server running Services for Macintosh and a B&W G3 with file sharing
enabled under 9.2.2.

If I mount the NT share via AFP the drive stays mounted permanently 99%
of the time, i.e I can be doing nothing with the share but it's still
there hours later. But the B&W shares, while mounting fine, just keep
disconnecting when I stop using them for a really short length of time (5
minutes or so). I get the "drive has disconnected and cannot be
reconnected" message, which is a pain, but if I've got a remote file open
with something like AppleWorks 6 then obviously this is not a good thing,
and the application just crashes.

Disconnecting after such a short length of inactivity can't be right, can
it? I've made sure then the B&W isn't spinning its disk down via the
energy saver but it makes no difference. Oh...and if I boot the iMac into
9.2.2 then it can share the B&W folder for as long as I want, so it seems
to be an OS X thing.

Anyone got any suggestions? I'd like to move my documents to the B&W from
the NT Server but this is holding things up.

Neil
