It's not an OS X <-> OS 9 problem, because the same thing happens when I boot the other machine into 10.1.5. This iMac just loses the connection to the remote machine as soon as there's the slightest hint of inactivity (OK, I exaggerate - a few minutes and then it's gone). It can't be the Netgear ADSL router because if I stick a Surecom switch in between the same thing happens. Hmmm...it is just my 10.2.6 setup - if I mount the share the other way around, i.e. share the 10.2.6 drive on the 10.1.5 machine the share stays on the desktop for ages. More investigation needed methinks.
