Linksys router

I have recently acquired a Linksys WRT54G router and am bamboozled by 
some setup aspects and have no idea how to set it up to work with the 
proxy server.  The satellite signal combats the latency with an IPA 
which is part and parcel of the proxy function and I cannot get it to 
work properly.  I can use http but loading web pages can be a time 
consuming business.  I wondered if anyone here had a similar 
arrangement and can advise me on the set up as Linksys seem reluctant 
to speak to me.
