I think in essence its almost like a dating service, in that you find someone who would be able to help you out, and you sort out the details between yourselves (ok, bad analogy on the dating service thing)! For example, I use Office 2001. They have a download page for all 2001 extra bits and pieces. They used to have 'Service release1' available to download that would address the problem of Macro viruses. However, I tried to download this recently only to find that they've combined it with another download and you cannot separate the two, so now you have to download the whole thing at 24Mb. I have no hope in hell of doing that on an incredibly flaky 28k connection, and this iMove service would have been great for that. In theory I could have searched for someone with a fast connection willing to download all Office2001 updates to disc for me, and maybe Appleworks too. Also, my sister has a CRT iMac but no internet connection (she worries about what the kids might get up to, and if they want to anything internet related, they can use a friends machine, or the library. Otherwise for schoolwork they have a Grolier CD). She has MacOS9.21 and OSX.1 It would be a great service to be able to get the downloadable updates to push her version of OSX as high as it would go, and ditto for OS9. Also, she had a crash recently and is back to Quicktime 4 as a result, she was using Quicktime 6 which I installed when she brought her Mac up to me. But again, I can't safely download anything above 10Mb. I know you can reload after a connection drops out in IE or another browser, but I have always found that option flaky at best. -- Mac UK is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and... 123Inkjets.com <http://lowendmac.com/ad/123inkjets.html> Support Low End Mac <http://lowendmac.com/lists/support.html> Mac UK list info: <http://lowendmac.com/lists/mac-uk.shtml> --> AOL users, remove "mailto:" Send list messages to: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To unsubscribe, email: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> For digest mode, email: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Subscription questions: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Archive: <http://www.mail-archive.com/mac-uk%40mail.maclaunch.com/> Using a Mac?
