Once you do get a router, you will need to register its MAC address with Telewest using their website, and also power down and restart the cable modem, to clear it's cache and have it assign an IP address to the router.
Probably the easiest thing these days it to buy a wireless accesspoint/broadband router combined. I've seen a Linksys one work well.
The other thing to remember is the computers will now be on a private subnet behind the router, rather than connected directly. This is good for security , but might complicate person to person messaging and some peer-to-peer stuff.

Do you ever find problems with your set up. Our Linksys WRT54G wireless router seems to throw a wobbly every now and then and needs to be shut down and restarted to restore full flow. HTTP seems to be the most affected functions which dwindle and dwindle and eventually stop. If I shut everything down (including the Skystar 360E) and reboot everything starting at the satellite end I get proper service back. BT reckon there is nothing wrong with the performance of the installation up to the 360E, which they can test remotely, and have hinted that the router might be the problem. I have currently got three computers connected by DHCP but I have a feeling it goes wrong when two computers are browsing simultaneously.
