Hello the List!
I think I may have an issue with my 12" Powerbook. On occasion it makes what I can only describe as a light ' thudding' noise; a sort of deep, non-resonant click, quite brief. It might do this a handful of times and then stop. Often it doesn't do it at all, but this morning it's doing it a lot. It seems to be coming from the back l/h side of the side of the case. It generally seems to happen when the PB is first woken up.
It's a 12" PB (the first model, 867 Mhz); it happens whether it's connected to the network via either ethernet or wifi; and it also doesn't matter whether it's using the built-in screen or a separate monitor. Also I've been through all the default sounds (System Preferences - Sounds) and confirmed that it isn't any of them - it definitely isn't 'Funk', for instance.
My wife has got a 14" iBook and I've never heard heard her machine make this noise.
There haven't been any other problems - no kernel panics, no (obvious) HD or RAM problems, just this unexplained clicking noise...
Has anyone got any ideas?
Tom
