Hello, I seem to have a Fujitsu 80 Gb IDE drive connected via a PCI IDE card inside a powermac G4 (originally in a umax s900 pulsar, but that sems to be having startup problems now.)
It doesn't mount, Norton only finds it when you search for missing discs, and then crashes when loading the driver. Diskwarrior would say there was a problem loading te driver and then not play with the drive. So I tried a "takeover drive / update driver" from within Hard disc speedtools, which didn't work properly. It brought up a dialog asking if I wanted to initialize the new partitions. Which I didn't. Norton now will see the drives if I search for missing discs, biut will then spend all night looking for filesaver data. About halfway through the night a "clonking" sound can be heard from the drive, and norton stops responding. This drive housed my music collection, and has my iTunes playlists on it. I've got a backup from August, but I have done alot of extra cataloguing since then, and anyway,m I don't much fancy re-importing 70 Gb of CDs. So, anyone know of any decent file recovery programs / people. I have a feel;ing the drive iwll need taking apart to stop it going clonk before the data can be salvaged. Hope this makes sense, cheers for any ideas / insights.
