Don't know much about pricing, I'm afraid. Not very high these days would be one answer - the newer iceBooks have rather knocked s/hand G3 Powerbook prices. The 14" G3 iBook was called 'Son of Pismo' by many, and with them available for 500 or less on eBay, the older Powerbooks are going to come in quite a lot lower than that.

Pismo 500s are pretty rare, and may still carry a premium for that reason. Come to that, Lombard 400s aren't that common.

Don't know if you already know this or not, but there is one big difference between the Lombard 333 and the rest, and that is that the slower Lombards don't play DVDs (films).

One other thing - I've been seeing a lot of threads on other mailing lists about dead Pismos, etc, and in the last year I've had a 333 Lombard just die on me (Malcolm got the benefit of that one!) and a Pismo we've got has recently decided to stop talking to its internal DVD drive. So my personal feeling is that these older machines are coming to the end of their natural lives. I would have thought that a s/h 14" iBook (700 Mhz or 800Mhz, for example) might be a better buy.

Hi All,

I'm looking at getting a Powerbook G3 either from retailer or on eBay, and
would be interested to know if anyone had any ideas on reasonable ballpark
pricing for either a 1999 'Lombard' 333/400Mhz, or the 2000 'Pismo'
(Firewire) 400/500Mhz??

Of course, I'd rather go for the better of the options and get the 500 Pismo
but it really depends on what's available.

Any ideas??

Cheers.
