I have spent a small fortune on printers over the years. After a year or two
they break and are unrepairable (unless anyone here knows differently?
Current graveyard has a Samsung ML7000 - not had great use but just keeled
over and died out of guarantee of course).

So, the best deal I have ever had was about 5 years ago to be given a 1992
vintage Laser Writer IIf with 32MB Ram. Not the best output compared to
modern machines but it will print anything. Rock solid Postscript means it
doesn't fall over at a massive Quark file. Great for checking separations,
etc. Takes it's time but gets it done whereas the more modern ones sometimes
cannot cope and the job disappears to nowhere. I'll miss it when it finally
croaks...
