well I cant offer a solution but maybe a workaround.
At Login, type the first letter of your log in name to select it and then
hit return or enter. Now type the PW. If your mouse cursor shows up
thereafter you are ok. If your login is to enter both username and password
then try tabbing to each fileld.
hope this helps.

I use a wacom pad/mouse and occasionally have to unplug and replug after
booting.
