I was wondering if anyone has experience of networking a Linux box to OS 10.2.8? any recommendations as to what flavour of Linux to use? I have an OLD copy of Coral Linux (May 2000) I'm sure there must be better that will run on my meager resources.

At the end of the day, Linux and OSX are both Unixes and talk to each other very politely.

Linux has come a long long way in five years, I strongly advise you grab something more up to date! My favourite Linux at the moment (from a drop in and go standpoint) is Ubuntu - they have a very helpful community too. On older hardware, I like Vector which runs nice and quick on the wife's old Thinkpad (P2-300 / 256Mb). You may find the likes of SuSE & Fedora a little too bloated to run comfortably on your laptop. Gentoo's a good one for speed as well, but it will take weeks to compile everything from source (as it does) :/
