Subject: QTPro7 and big MP3 file
Date: Sat, 9 Jul 2005 20:06:42 +0100
I have a very large MP3 file which is a tad under 100Mb and I am
wanting to convert it to AIFF for burning to a CD to play in a
regular car player. I don't have anything like that capacity on the
disc where the iTunes Library is installed and I am trying to get my
head around a way to open it in iTunes without importing it to the
library, which has about 2mb spare room! I tried importing it into
Sound Studio and it was not that happy about it but, surprisingly
QTPro did not want to open it either. Any suggestions, please, would
be most welcome, as always.
I have in the past used Audacity (http://audacity.sourceforge.net/) to
manipulate downloaded audio streams into more useable formats. I'm
running 10.2.8 on an iMac DV400 with 192Mbytes RAM and one fairly full
10 gig disc. I can't remember how big the files got, but they were for
sure at least half an hour long.
Audacity is free (as in beer _and_ as in speech)
Cheers
Roddy
