Thanks John but we do know this - hence our/my discontent :0]

The point is that I and others who subscribe or have subscribed to many other lists only experience a problem with posting to this list, whether new posts, replies or attaching quotes. It is very irksome. I think it seems to occur most often for me (and apparently Roger) when one copies and pastes text from another source and I invite you and others to try this.

Tim might have fingered the problem in his earlier posting where he says that the text encoding should be "automatic" or "Western ISO Latin 1". I use Mail and have mine set on "default" and do not understand what circumstances should require it set otherwise. If this is the problem then would I be alone in perceiving this as slightly ironic, given the subject of the list is "things Apple Mac" and it not accepting the Mac OS default?

I expect that some people might raise the valid point that we who complain are free to "shop elsewhere" but this is not, in my view, reason enough to leave one of the best Apple Mac lists. It is however frustrating when you think you have something which might be of general interest and it keeps coming back to you, unposted, throughout the day for reasons you feel are unfounded and which apparently cannot be overcome.

I shall say no more on the subject unless invited.

For those not on the mailing list, you may be interested in the raft of very important new changes to Mellel announced today:

But it clearly IS related to what is being sent.

It is - anything pasted in. It's also, in my experience, unique to this list (although this is the only LEM one I use).

I use 2 LEM lists and don't generally have trouble with either.
Lem lists accept plain text format only so if you copy and paste from an RTF document Kaboom.
        Using Mail client go
Mail /Preferences/composing and choose Plain Text in the Format box.
