Maybe you could just back up your user data and not worry about the

stuff which might be best to reinstall fresh in the circumstances. Its
only
System based data that needs to be cloned.
You could just drag and drop User folders across to the FW HD.
I'm in the process of a backup using silverkeeper. Its stopped a few
times but seems to pick up ok and is moving data way quicker than
superduper was.
I'm planning on zeroing and reinstalling 10.3.9.
The owner of the ibook has got documents saved all over the place so
the only way i can catch all is to backup all.
hopefully i am on the last leg of this ibook recovery. thanks for all
your help.
