According to ARSTechnica's 'take-apart' reviews, the iPod Nano and iPod 5th Gen
(video) have no Firewire interface whatsoever. In both cases the chip, which is
just less than the size of a 5p, it is widely thought that the chip was pulled
for space saving reasons. In the Nano this obviously made it smaller and
thinner, in the 5th Gen it was sacrificed to fit in the video codec chip that
handles MPEG-4 and H.264 decoding.
