Hi all, I wonder if you can please help.
I have a mirror door G4 PowerMac, dual 1Gb, OS 10.3.8 that is
getting stuck when repairing permissions. Disk Utility gives this
alert: "Disk Utility Internal Error - Disk utility has lost its
connection with the Disk Management Tool and cannot continue. Please
quit and relaunch Disk Utility" Using Onyx to repair permissions
simply gets stuck about half way through.
This is a very common problem seen by Panther users after updating to
iTunes 6.0.2.

From that page:
"Fix is to drag iTunes 6.02 out of Applications folder and onto
desktop, then run Disk Utility as per normal (it will now work OK to
Repair Permissions). Then drag iTunes back into Applications folder."
If you Google the error message you'll find lots more.
So, I made a bootable backup on a brand new LaCie FW400 using
SuperDuper, only to find that the G4 will not boot from it. I made
it the statup disk in System Prefs but it booted from the internal
drive system. Starting up holding the option key down, the FW drive
icon did not appear. Making the backup took about three attempts as
SuperDuper encountered various corrupt files on the way which I had
to delete in order to complete the backup.
Hmm, can't comment on this part of the problem.
