Howdo,
I used to report all my spam to spamcop, but after I accidentally
posted my email address on an apache mailing list, I started to get
anything up to 100 spam messages a day. At this level, it's not
really possible to report them all, so I set up a box to run
spamassassin against all my email, now I get maybe one or two a week
that slip through.
Sounds good, how do i do this, please?
Rob
Well, I ended up going the whole hog and just setting up a proper
mail server by more or less following this guide <http://
workaround.org/articles/ispmail-sarge/>. To be fair it was a lot of
work, but it was something that I'd wanted to do for ages and I'm
glad that I did.
I doesn't have to be done this way. If you're using OS X, it would
be possible to use fetchmail to store the mail on your Mac and then
run spamassassin on it from there. It would take some work (and a
lot of googling) and I don't suppose this would be very useful if you
routinely read your email on multiple computers mind you.
Perhaps I might write about it on my Web site if I can find some time.
James.
