Sortof.

Any platform (OS:Browser) should be able to talk to any server.

But there are stumbling blocks / limitations that you, as a hosting provider or page author (webmaster), have to deal with:

  Browser's vs Web Author's standards support.

  ECMA Script (JavaScript) version support and engine bugs.

  JAVA version support and engine bugs.

  Other plug-in support and bugs.

  MS-proprietary enhancements to Java, JavaScript, etc, and its bugs.


The MS "solution" to this mess is to enable the "feature" in IIS servers that simply locks out all non-Windows non-IE platforms.
