I have seen bug trackers used to gather user data on a decision like this, but they tend to get a little cluttered (see https:// bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=322367 for example). We could always start a poll in one of the forums (not sure if the OOo forums have this option, but it is a feature available to phpBB).
