I'm sorry, I did not make myself clear. I am not a programmer and have absolutely no idea what one would do with a "milestone build", I'm a user. The version I installed is still the version that is posted as a "stable' alpha when OpenOffice.org *users* click the links starting from

Sorry, but stable and alpha are mutually exclusive.

of course! But one gets there by starting out on the Downloads page at http://download.openoffice.org/index.html, where one clicks a green box that says, "download openoffice.org version 2.3.0 (stable)". I wonder how many everyday users see that and and the "stable" descriptor is what sticks in their brain in spite of the information several pages deeper about the aqua version being an alpha.

On the very next page after clicking that first download link, btw, under "Other Operating Systems" for Mac it says "Mac OS X, 10.3 and X11". This might cause users to believe that OOo does not work with 10.4 (and here we are on the eve of 10.5). Suggestion: have the owner of this page change the test under Mac OS X to read "10.2, 10.3, 10.4".

The next page is the Mac porting download page. Here are two links, one for "using X11 windowing environment" and the other for "Aqua". Suggestion: *right here* add text saying "(WARNING: This Aqua release is NOT stable and is for preview/testing purposes only. Be sure to read the FAQ.)" This way users do not have to click through to yet *another* page (where it does give an effective warning in red text) and then have to go back to the previous page to take the X11 version instead if they are not interested in the Alpha release.

Just some notes from someone whose profession it is to "bridge the gap between users and programmers".... nothing above intended to sound like whining....
