If your under Leopard I noticed that Firefox and Camino - a Cocoa based Browser that uses the same Gecko engine as Firefox - perform poorly when it comes to downloading files. Until now I haven't figured out why. When I get 200 kbit/sec in Firefox/Camino I get 600 in Safari 3. In addition a user informed me via private Mail that he had trouble downloading OOo from nearly all the US Servers or that they mirrored very outdated versions. Back in the old days we had those problems with the Mac version but we thought them to be solved. If you don't mind a little more download time you can try an european mirror. Usually our german mirrors are up to date and fast :-) You may try <ftp://ftp-1.gwdg.de/pub/openoffice/stable/2.3.0/> where you find downloads for PPC and Intel.
