Hi, thanks for your testing and the quick reply. At first I couldn't reproduce this too. But a friend who never had OOo installed on his Mac Book reported me this bug and I concluded that this bug (only) occures when there are no user settings. I quit OOo, backed up my settings in ~/Library/Application Support/OpenOffice.org-aqua and started OOo and got the described error when using the letter wizard. I guess you already did that.
I currently don't have clean sources. I'll check out m8 and see what happens. If the error still occures I can provided the debug informations.
