One way is to remove /opt/local/bin from your path when building. You set PATH to some value that does not include /opt/local/bin.
However, if you're build on Leopard and you want a working Base, you will need to install flex from the Mac Ports. The one that ships with Xcode on Leopard doesn't work.
I'd suggest actually installing the missing modules for the Perl that comes with Mac Ports. I use it and my OO.o builds and runs just fine.
