While the fuse installation is fully in accordance with Apple's guidelines, there is some room for simplification.
Extensions can only be loaded from a fixed set of locations, but one of these is /System/Library/Filesystems. The mount tool could be made to load the extension from there, if necessary, and the load tool could be dispensed with. The OS will only look in certain places to load libraries, and /usr/ local/lib is one of them (and the most appropriate, I would say). There is no hope of putting everything is a single location as the permitted locations are mutually exclusive. It would be possible to 'auto-install' some parts, making a drag installer possible, but that does not address your issue. "System" is the mandatory location for some parts of MacFUSE (and any other file system) in order to protect the security of the machine. >From a security standpoint, putting things outside of System that belong there is sometimes worse than putting things there that do not have to be. That kind of 'clean' is not a good thing. --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "macfuse-devel" group.
