I just submitted a fix to the SpotlightFS source for this problem. The issue
was that SpotlightFS was incorrectly setting the mode for some folders. This
didn't show up as a problem until some change to the core of MacFUSE a while
ago that started fully respecting the mode.
You should be able to check out the source, build SpotlightFS, and verify
that this change does indeed fix the problem you're seeing. We'll try to get
a new pre-built binary up as soon as we can.
