For that particular file, selected randomly, I tried at least
Finder | select | command-i | Locked | check the checkbox

Monty is working on an EncFS-based alternative to FileVault,
integrated with the log in window, but I don't know the details of
where he's at.

For me, it was interesting to learn that Finder's concept of a lock
may not carry across to a MacFUSE-mounted volume.
