And in my defense the document itself says:
You insist on not looking at the source (defeating the very purpose of open source software), but are willing to guess and jump at conclusions regarding the semantics of documentation. hdiutil and MacFUSE don't deal with similar concepts. That way, you could stretch it and say that "it's all about files" so "cat" and "ls" options should also work with MacFUSE. > I suppose I could study the source, as you and others have suggested, Rather than "guessing" that 'noautoopen' is a MacFUSE option, all you had to do was to "grep -r noautoopen" in the source tree--you would have seen no results, giving you the answer. It's not as if I suggested that you should fix bugs in the source tree yourself or "study the source". I suggested that you *grep*. You should only be tinkering directly with MacFUSE if you are a developer or a user not allergic to delving deep. In either case, the point is that the source is out there--if you don't understand something, find the answer in the source. If you still don't make a headway, feel free to ask for help here. Complaining about or demanding an illustrated guide isn't very helpful, unless you offer to write one. Remember that MacFUSE isn't end user software. File systems written atop MacFUSE with some sort of configuration/other user-interface would be considered end user software. In that case, you wouldn't need to worry about MacFUSE options. > I'm glad that is not the common answer from other software engineers for > other user level features in software.
