Sorry I was going by the uninstall documentation that was linked here:

http://code.google.com/p/macfuse/issues/detail?id=36&can=2&q=

Among other directories in /usr/local for the /usr/local/bin directory
identifies these files:
cd /usr/local/bin

sudo rm sshfs
sudo rm glib*
sudo rm pkg-config
sudo rm *gettext*
sudo rm *mount*

I was using this site as a guide to see what, if any of the items it
identifies for removal were installed. Since I had tried to reinstall
with no success, I also wanted to make sure that I removed any
residual files that might be interfering with a subsequent reinstall.

But to your question about /usr/local/lib this is what I am seeing after
running the installer:

rns3Core2Duo:pkgconfig rns3$ ls -al /usr/local/lib
total 0
drwxr-xr-x 3 root wheel 102 Nov 12 15:49 .
drwxr-xr-x 8 root wheel 272 Nov 12 15:27 ..
drwxr-xr-x 2 root wheel 68 Nov 12 15:49 pkgconfig

And the pkgconfig directory is empty.

Id did the lsbom and none of the files listed there are installed on the
machine.
