I'm stacking my file system on top of another file system for a real
device. I'm hiding the real device and its file system from the user.
If I try to use the fsname option to assign my file system to the real
device there are two file systems with mountFrom's of the same thing,
and that isn't good.

Thanks for the lead -- it looks like I can't trick the finder, though.
At least not that way.

Is there a centralized list of concerns with mounting a fuse file
system as local so I can see what applies and what I'll have to work
around? Having a .Trashes folder isn't a big bother.

Thanks.
Jim
