Hi,
I don't consider it leeching - with an MIT license it is up to you to use the 
code as you want for whatever purpose. When you work and contribute back to an 
MIT codebase you know what the score is.
In the medium term it can make a lot of economic sense to contribute whatever 
changes you make back as it stops your code base diverging from the main 
repository - and you get other people working on bugs and QA.
