In short: There have been two recent builds of MacFUSE that support 64 bit 
kernels. 

The build I listed first (2.1.9) uses a superior locking mechanism compared to 
the secondly listed build (2.1.7). Therefore you should try the build I listed 
first (2.1.9).

As the version number suggests 2.1.7 actually was done before 2.1.9. I just 
listed 2.1.9 first because this is the way to go. Hope this clears up the 
confusion. At the moment 2.1.9 is the most recent version.
