The group has job postings because there has always been a spam problem in google groups. The project is slow moving because the primary contributers to the code don't have time to work on it anymore, and the working build is an "unofficial" build. I hear that Expandrive doesn't use the macfuse framework anymore, so either they rolled their own fuse system or they found another project. I haven't heard of any other projects like macfuse so I assume it's the former.
