Sherlock lives in the Applications folder at the root of your main hard drive. Try starting it by double-clicking it there. If the items are still grayed out, then Sherlock itself is probably damaged. Since (I believe) all the items used by Sherlock are in the bundle you double-clicked in the Applications folder, the easiest way to proceed is to replace it. By the way, if you want easy access to word tools, check out the sites itools.com and dictionary.com.
